Summer Silliness
It seems that every time the grandchildren are here and we pull out the camera, pure silliness ensues. Lizzy, Lincoln, and Ross love to take pictures and always want us to make funny faces. Of course, anything that the grandkids want . . .

A Peary Nice Day
Bonnie came down on Monday and together we canned 19 quarts of pears from our little pear tree. An extra set of hands definitely made the task go quicker.
Abigail was getting a little fussy and Bonnie quickly solved the problem by letting her "help".
She loved splashing in the cold water! Then she figured out how to turn the faucet on. She definitely kept us entertained.

Chicken Salad Recipe
I made this salad for a baby shower recently. It is yummy, and so easy with a Costco rotisserie chicken and prepackaged salad.
Grilled Chicken Salad with Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing
1 cup lemon low-fat yogurt
1 tsp. poppy seeds
chicken - as much/little as you want
6 cups Dole Classic Iceberg Salad
1 20-ounce can pineapple chunks drained or 1 1/2 cups fresh pineapple cut into chunks
1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
almonds
Mix yogurt with the poppy seeds for the dressing. Add to the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. I added a little salt the second time I made this as well as the almonds.

Only a Month Behind . . .
The garden finally realized it was summer and we have been busy canning salsa, green beans, spaghetti sauce, etc. I am grateful for a day of no canning! Last month Justin blessed Cole at their home. It was a very sweet experience with many family and friends there to lend support and participate.
The Van Ausdal name will be carried on with Cole's birth. |
